Questions about rank in ChatGPT answers
How is rank in ChatGPT different from rank in Google?
Google ranks URLs on a results page. ChatGPT writes an answer that names products in some order. The report records your place in that order, and whether your site is linked.
Does it check my ChatGPT rank every day?
No. There are no daily or weekly checks, history charts or alerts yet. The report is a point-in-time check that you can run again later to compare. A report is cached for 2 days per domain.
Why does my position change between two answers?
Models do not answer the same way every time. That is why each question is asked twice per model and the two answers are combined into one score.
Which models besides ChatGPT are checked?
ChatGPT (an OpenAI model), Claude and Gemini, through their APIs. Web search is turned off, so the answers show what each model says by default from its training. Perplexity and Google AI Overviews are not checked.
Which competitors am I compared with?
Up to 7, found by researching your site and market and checked against their live sites. Each gets its own mention and citation counts and its own score.
